Some weather and wave information on Lake Superior and then in the water rescue procedures. They were very thorough going over equipment we should have for throw ropes, short/long, sling for step up, paddle float.....starting on the shore to wet exit, assisted rescue and self-rescue. "Thank you to Peggy Kober, the Riveredge Nature Center and the Bridget Center for hosting the Kewaskum's Mighty River Project's Kayak Event Day on Saturday the 27th of June, 2020.... read more This was an awesome and beautiful event that aided, people like me, who are beginner Kayakers to come and not only learn about the Kewaskum's Mighty River Project but to also learn the new hobby of Kayaking. My heart and much respect goes out to Silent Wake, LLC with my Kayaking Instructors, Daren Barrett & Kristin Vogal for a superb and professional Kayaking Instruction, Safety, Hands On - One on One Instruction and the Kayaking event on water. Daren, Owner of Silent Wake, LLC, donated his business and time for this event which was very inspiring as well as the fact of bringing kayaks and equipment for those needing assistance and equipment and even made sure everyone was hydrated and brought extra water for everyone as well. My story, though, does not start with this awesome event. It stems back several weeks prior, when I contacted Silent Wake's Facebook page to gather advice and guidance in reference to Kayaking for a beginner. This is where I first met Daren {social media only at that time}. Through the weeks leading up to the event in Kewaskum, Daren spent many hours talking with me, giving me guidance on both sit in and sit on Kayaks as well as equipment suggestions and places for beginners to safely go. Daren was also quick on his email replies and devoted a lot of time to me and my needs. At the Kewaskum's Mighty River Project Kayak Event, this was the first time I got to meet with Daren in-person. Prior to the class, during the class, after the class and since the class... Daren showed outstanding professionalism in his service and instruction. I really liked how he is all out safety as well. Both Daren & Kristin were outstanding in their instruction and hands on guidance.
